I’m a guy who just wants to be the best husband and father that I can be. But because I’m gay, I’ve had to overcome some pretty significant obstacles to recreate the legal and social structure that everybody else gets through marriage.
I believe California – and the whole country – would be better off if all committed couples had the freedom to commit to marriage. Not only is it silly to block people from achieving their full potential in our economy and society, it also offends my sense of justice to see some couples told their relationship is less worthy, less equal or less important than others. As Dick Cheney says, “Freedom means Freedom for everyone.”
