Governor Schwarzenegger has epitomized the struggle that many Opponents of Equlality have gone through. He has opposed gay rights actively and passionately, then has fallen silent, and some (years!) later has become vocal about the importance of gay rights as basic human rights.
I have seen my parents go through this arc; I have seen the Episcopal Church go down this road. Mayors, courts, judges – even Laura Bush.
I figured that if I can figure out what motivates this Change of Heart, I could help accelerate the process with other Opponents of Equality.
Likewise, if Opponents of Equality could convince the Governor to take away my freedom, I could convince him to restore it. So I figured he was the one to write to about getting government off of my back.
